Welcome to Pueblo Colorado

 Pueblo, Colorado was once a crossroads for many native American Indian tribes, settlers and traders. The town got its name from a trading post, Ft. Pueblo, that was established here along the Arkansas River in 1842, Fort Pueblo (El Pueblo) was abandoned in 1854 following an Indian massacre. By the late 1850's, the gold rush drew thousands of prospectors, and by the late 1880's, the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad came into town, as well as many other thriving industries - such as the first steel mill west of the Mississippi River, booming Pueblo's population and establishing the city as it is known today.
